New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen to reunite with Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic at Old Trafford, as reported by 90min via Italian football site GianlucaDiMarzio.
Despite his disastrous end at Chelsea, which was compounded by the bad form of Nemanja Matic, Mourinho is eager to add the Serbian to his plans at Manchester United.
While it might confuse the neutral observer, the fact that Mourinho is a long-term admirer of the Serbian cannot be understated.
In fact, it was Mourinho who brought Matic to Chelsea in January of 2014 for a transfer fee of £21 Million.
Matic was influential in his first full season at the club as he led Chelsea to their first League title since the return of Jose Mourinho. He was also voted as the Serbian Player of the Year at the end of 2014/15 season.
However, his form went south in the 2015/16 season, as Chelsea became one of the worst reigning Champions in the Barclays Premier League.
Despite getting back to his best in the latter stages of last season, many Chelsea fans wanted to see the back of the Serbian in this summer.
If Mourinho succeeds to bring Matic to Manchester United, that will surely signal the end of the road for either Bastian Schweinsteiger or Morgan Schneiderlin.
The duo was brought on by Louis Van Gaal last season but has failed to attract applause from the Manchester United faithful.
