Liverpool and Arsenal reportedly fight for £20m Striker

Liverpool and Arsenal are going to fight for the contract of Leicester’s striker, Jamie Vardy, for £20m, as the Mirror reports.

The twenty-nine-year-old English international was a true revelation last season for Leicester, and no doubt was one of the most important players in the club’s historical success of winning the Premier League. Naturally, these great performances attracted a lot of interest from some of the biggest English clubs, specifically Liverpool and Arsenal.

It is understood that Liverpool already approached the player, offering him wages of £140,000 a week. However, while it is true that Vardy has a release clause in his contract that puts his price up to £20 m, there is one catch- he is only available to the clubs playing European Champions League. Because of this, Arsenal could be in a much better position, despite offering lower wages at £120,000 a week.

This transfer saga could end very quickly, because England boss Roy Hodgson stated that he doesn’t want his player to be involved in any transfer activities after they travel to France, in order to participate in the Euros.

Arsenal would like to offer him a four-year contract, but with Leicester clearly stating that they don’t want to sell their best players, it is surely going to be a big fight over the Premier League’s latest gem.
