The £20 million release clause only applies to teams set to play in the Champions League next season but Liverpool were said to be ready to offer Vardy a £140,000-per-week deal in order to lure him to Anfield.

However in surprise reports, the Liverpool Echo have stated that Liverpool are in fact not interested in signing Vardy. The reports claim that Vardy is not among the names being discussed by manager Jurgen Klopp and the Reds are instead looking to pursue other targets.
