Real Madrid meet with Jorge Mendes, discuss star contract and possible exit

Ronaldo

According to El Confidencial, a Spanish newspaper, Cristiano Ronaldo would renew his contract with Real Madrid until 2020 and include a salary higher than 20 million euros per season.

The Portuguese didn’t play the final everyone would expect of him, but he was there when the last penalty needed to go in. His happiness throughout the celebration is a good contrast from his state during the Rafa Benítez era.

Because of how Real feels about CR7 and how the player feels for the club, a contract renewal would be on the way. Boss Zinedine Zidane is happy with the attacker and would be happy to keep him around for a little bit longer.

Updates on this situation will probably occur in the coming months as summer is a turbulent time and anything can happen.

Per the same information, the meeting with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes also had the topic of James Rodríguez emerge. It seems that Los Blancos wouldn’t mind the Colombian change clubs this summer.

If James were to stay, his current playing situation wouldn’t change much unless external events affected this. He didn’t play a single minute in the UCL final and was relegated to the bench for most of 2016.

With an asking price of 80 million euros, not many clubs can come around to take the #10. Nevertheless, Real can negotiate if and make things easier for all parts.
