The Mexico and Paraguay national teams will officially begin their Copa America preparations in a friendly at the Georgia Dome this Saturday, May 28, 2016 (2:00 PM Pacific). This warm-up match will allow coached from both sides to define the starting lineup days before the start of the competition.

Mexico will have a difficult Copa America tournament in which they have the pressure to reach at least the semifinals. The team coached by Juan Carlos Osorio understands that along with Uruguay, they are are favored to qualify into the quarterfinals out of Group C. The friendly against Paraguay will serve as a way to decide which players will be in the starting lineup against Uruguay next June 9th at the Rose Bowl for their opening match.

Paraguay has it much more difficult than Mexico to reach the quarterfinals out of their group. Group A has been referred to as the ‘Group of Death’ as it includes the host USA, Colombia, and Costa Rica. The team coached by Ramon Diaz must play a perfect group stage as the USA and Colombia are favored to reach the next round.

The match at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta is expected to sell-out in what will be an outstanding pro-Mexico atmosphere. The ‘tri’ is favored to win, yet Paraguay will undoubtedly give a great fight. It will be interesting to note how Mexico fans react after each Paraguay goal kick as the FIFA just implemented another fine for the ‘put…’ chant which many have denounced as homophobic.
