According to The Mirror, Liverpool entered the race to sign Reece Oxford, whose price is set at £10m, in order to strengthen their squad for next season. However, the same source reports that Manchester United and Manchester City could also be chasing Oxford.

Despite being seventeen-years-old, Oxford is already regarded as one of the brightest young talents is the Premier League. Also, Klopp’s squad could use some improvement in Oxford’s area of expertise- he can play as centre-back or a defensive midfielder, and these positions, together with left-back, were Liverpool’s biggest weakness during their 2015/16 campaign.

Oxford made his debut for West Ham in the Europa League last July, and he became the youngest-ever player in the club’s history.

Although Liverpool already has a pretty young squad, Klopp is well known for putting his trust in young players, so there is no doubt Reece Oxford would fit nice under his guidance. Also, the fact that Liverpool didn’t back off even when they heard about the price, proves that Klopp means serious business.
