Manchester United will reportedly reassign the No. 7 & 9 shirts

Depay

The Sun reports that Memphis Depay is set to lose his No. 7 jersey to Anthony Martial; it is stated that the swap will be initiated to hand the No. 9 jersey to Zlatan Ibrahimović, who is reportedly expected to pen down a one-year deal at Old Trafford. Also, Depay has failed to meet the expectations of being a No. 7 at Manchester United.

The 22-year-old arrived at Old Trafford last summer for £25 million from PSV Eindhoven. He kick-started his career at United, but his level dropped consistently, and he failed to replicate the impressive form that saw him score 22 goals in Holland last season.

It is reported that the Red Devils are looking to offload the Dutch international at a slashed rate because of his poor run of form. Moreover, Mourinho will have a massive transfer budget upon his arrival, and he would not hesitate to sacrifice Depay to bring in a signing of his choice.

This shirt swapping could see Liverpool revive their interest in Depay. As they tried to sign the winger last summer in order to bring him to Anfield, but Louis Van Gaal played an influential role in his move to Old Trafford. Liverpool will also be revamped under Jurgen Klopp and signing Depay would bolster their attack.
