Report: Leicester City plot move for Arsenal Midfielder

The Sunday Mirror reports that Leicester City are planning a raid for Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 22-year-old had a tough campaign, making only 22 league appearances before getting injured in February.

Claudio Ranieri is looking to strengthen his midfield for the Champions League next season and he sees Chamberlain as the ideal addition to his squad. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not giving up on the England international, speaking earlier this year he said:

“We invested a lot of time,” he said, “so we will not give up now.”

The mirror also claims that Wenger would look to Saido Mane to replace injured Danny Welbeck. The 24-year-old helped Southampton to Europa League Qualification by scoring 11 goals and providing 7 assists.

The Senegalese international made his move to Southampton in 2014 and has been a hit since then. Arsenal are planning a planning a £17m bid to secure his services. However, Arsenal could face competition from Manchester United for his signature who are reportedly planning a £25m bid.
