The former Chelsea Boss, Jose Mourinho, could become the Manchester United manager starting this summer. The 53-year old manager is expected to work together with Louis van Gaal, according to The Sun’s report, which has not yet been confirmed by official Manchester United sources.
The report says Ed Woodward, executive vice-chairman of Manchester United, proposed the idea to move van Gaal into the director of football role. This is to create a chance for Mourinho to manage the club.
Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea in December, has said nothing concerning the Manchester move. However, he has maintained that come July, he will be back in club management. Mourinho worked as van Gaal’s translator in Barcelona, he says there is a good relationship between them.
Van Gaal has been greatly criticized for the poor performance of the team. However, he has maintained in recent press conferences, that he will stay at the club. The decision to sack or keep van Gaal in Manchester United now lies with the club owners, the Glazer family.
