The Club America vs Chivas Guadalajara Super Clasico ‘Round 2’ Liguilla Match will take place at the Estadio Azteca this Sunday, May 15, 2016 (4:00 PM Pacific).

America and Chivas played the first leg of their quarter-final at the Estadio Chivas in what turned out to be an exciting match with plenty of passion, but ultimately, few displays of effective soccer. The match ended 0-0, which left the quarter-final wide open, though slightly in favor of Club America.

Although the first leg did not produce any goals for either team, the rough game both Chivas and America displayed ended up creating 1 red card per team. Rubens Sambueza was red carded and will be unavailable for Sunday’s match. On Chivas’ side, Angel Zaldivar will also miss the game due to a red card received in the first leg.

With the 0-0 result in the first match, it can be argued that Club America has the advantage, specially considering they will be playing at the Estadio Azteca. Furthermore, the Liga MX liguilla rules would allow Club America to advance to the semi-final with a 0-0 draw, due to awarding the higher seeded team the tie-breaker in case of a draw in the aggregate score and away goals.

Nonetheless, the route for Chivas is not that difficult. Any win gets them through, as well as any draw that isn’t 0-0 (i.e. Chivas must score on Sunday). With that said, Club America should be able to push though Chivas and earn the victory.
