Two starts and nine substitute appearances for the Manchester United first team this season is not what should be a reflection of Andreas Pereira’s wonderful season in the youth team. In many games this season, he has shown why Under-21 football is far from what he is capable of.

While West Ham were annihilating the first team on Tuesday night, the U21s team were playing in the semi-final of the Senior Cup against Bury, with Andreas Pereira being a key part to the team winning 4-1 as he was on the score sheet twice.

With his 12 starts and 1 substitute appearance for U21s this season, he has scored 8 goals and assisted 7 leading him to contribute to a goal every 75 minutes.

Winning the U21 Player of the Season award last season and being a valuable part of the pre-season games, many of the fans had high expectations that he would be integrated into the first team squad right away.

Not being a featured in the first team squad since the Arsenal game in February could easily have left him in a state of resentment, but the 20 year old has kept on adding to his statistics and is leaving everyone baffled as to why Louis van Gaal is not giving him a chance.
