He might have won a myriad of important games in his career, but Kolo Toure still shares the sentiment of a common fan when it comes to important games.

Thus, when Liverpool were moving towards Anfield to play their most important game of this season, the Ivorian defender was left in tears due to a passion that was shown from the Liverpool faithful.

Long before a ball was kicked at Anfield, there were long rows of supporters lining the streets of Liverpool awaiting the arrival of their team.

In addition to singing incessantly the famous “You will Never Walk Alone” song that is attributed with Liverpool football club, the fans armored themselves with pyros, flags and flares to cheer their side.

Thus, while seasoned Liverpool players like Lucas Leiva and Martin Skrtel had witnessed it all before, the likes of Kolo Toure were overwhelmed with the response that they got from the Liverpool faithful.

Toure explains that he was left in tears en-route to Anfield in the Liverpool bus when he saw a disabled fan cheering for the team.

“I was crying because I saw a disabled guy and he couldn’t even walk but the passion he had to support the team was giving me some spirit. It was amazing – a great, great feeling.” said Toure

“We had to do it for them, this was definitely for the fans, they made the difference.

“The Villarreal players will never forget that night either. I have had 15 years of a career but what I saw was amazing.”

Despite all his brilliant performances for Liverpool this season, the defender will be out of contract in the coming summer. And with players like Joel Matip coming in, it is expected that Liverpool might not be willing to renew his contract.

However, whatever the case with his contract, Kolo Toure will always remain a fan favorite for the Liverpool faithful.
