Premier League giants Manchester United have moved closer in their hopes of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and could land the Borussia Dortmund star for £70million, according to reports from the Daily Mail
Having guided Manchester United to the final of the FA Cup, manager Louis van Gaal may well be given the opportunity to see out his contract at the club which expires at the end of next season.
That being said though, it is clear that van Gaal’s side will be expected to perform much better in the Premier League next year and in order to do so; the Dutchman evidently needs to strengthen his ranks at Old Trafford.
There are plenty of areas where United currently have to improve upon and bringing in a new striker probably ranks among one of the biggest priorities.
Aubameyang heading to United?
As a result, a number of star names have been linked with a move to United over the past few weeks and recently, the name of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been mentioned as a realistic target for the Red Devils.
Aubameyang has been in sensational form this season, scoring 39 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions and the Gabonese international is currently a target for some of the very best teams across Europe.
Even United are long time admirers of Aubameyang and now, the fallen Premier League giants have moved closer in their pursuit for the 26-year old – if reports from the Daily Mail are to be believed.
The English publication state that United have placed Aubameyang as their number one target following internal meetings and van Gaal’s side will be able to sign the striker for a fee of around £70million.
