This Saturday, April 30, 2016 (10:30 AM Pacific), Porto will host Sporting CP at the Estadio do Dragao in another edition of one of the most important rivalries in Portugal. This ‘classico’ will be extremely crucial for Sporting’s championship hopes in their chase for the title behind Benfica.
Porto does not have much to play for with three games left in the season. The team coached by Jose Peseiro under-performed throughout the competition which has them sitting in 3rd place of the standings with 67 points; 10 points away from 2nd place, and 13 points ahead of 4th place. Therefore, the ‘dragoes’ will finish the season in 3rd place and will have a chance to qualify into next year’s Champions League via playoffs. This Saturday’s match will be a good opportunity to watch up to four Mexican players who have been included in the roster; Miguel Layun, Jesus Corona, Hector Herrera, and Omar Govea.
Sporting CP is in an exciting tight chase for the league’s title right behind the leading Benfica. The team coached by Jorge Jesus sits in 2nd with 77 points only two behind the leaders. Saturday’s game will be a very difficult contest as they visit their rivals, yet a win is all they must aim for in order to have a shot at winning the title.
