The Club America vs Tigres CONCACAF Champions League Final (Leg 1) will take place this Wednesday, April 20, 2016 (6:45 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Universitario in Monterrey. Tigres will be looking to get an advantage at home, while America will want to keep the score close for the second leg at the legendary Estadio Azteca.

Tigres are coming off a 5-2 smashing victory over already relegated Dorados de Sinaloa. The win catapulted the Monterrey squad into 8th place, and thus has, for now, a spot in the Liga MX Liguilla.

Tuca’s squad has had a somewhat mediocre season, though they do find themselves in their third final of the year (Liga MX, Libertadores, and now CCL), and are very much alive in the Liga MX. However, they will face a Club America that has been on fire this season.

America are currently in 2nd place in the Liga MX, winning four out of the last five games. However, they did suffer a defeat at the hands of Queretaro last weekend, possibly due to players looking past La Corregidora rivals and focusing on the CCL Final instead.

The highly anticipated CONCACAF Champions League Final features two teams that have been consistently playing well this past year. For the first leg today, expect a tight match with few goals. Prediction- Tigres 1-0 Club America.

Also, I expect this to be the highest rated CCL Final of all time, given the large fan-bases of Club America and Tigres.
