Manchester United’s man of the match in 1-0 win vs Everton

Blind

Manchester United were able to hold of Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday and secure a crucial three points in a 1-0 win.

Anthony Martial scored the lone goal in the 53rd minute. Beautiful buildup from United, with some lovely skill from youngster Marcus Rashford, put Martial on the end of a low ball across the box. The Frenchman converted with ease what was the 1000th Premier League goal scored at Old Trafford.

Manchester United also honoured United legend Sir Bobby Charlton on Sunday as the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand was revealed.

Martial for many was the man of the match today, but today for me it was someone else. In a game were Everton looked dangerous in the final third of the pitch defenceman Daley Blind did an incredible job keeping Everton striker Romelu Lukaku off the scoresheet. It was a brilliant performance from Blind, who has been shaky at the centre-back position at times.

Blind had to come off late in the match but manager Louis Van Gaal said the Dutchman will be ready to go next week.

Next week Blind will have another tough challenge as he’ll be tasked with containing the league’s leader scorer, Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

With this win Manchester United are now only one point off Manchester City for fourth place in the Premier League and a spot in Champions League next season. Their next match is Sunday against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Will Blind be able to contain Harry Kane?
