Former United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson voiced his support for Louis Van Gaal, urging fans to be patient and to give him a chance.
A significant number of United fans are unhappy with the club’s performance this season, citing the Dutchman’s style and tactics as a major reason why he should make way for a new coach like Jose Mourinho. Ferguson, who still attends virtually every home and away match, said it’s too easy to be critical of a new manager and that time is needed for a quality side to develop and grow.
While it’s been a less than impressive season for the Red Devils, it’s not over yet. United are in sixth in the table, but only a single point behind fourth-place rivals City, who occupy the last Champions League qualifying spot, meaning the highest level competition in Europe is still within reach.
The English club could also still win the FA Cup, as they are set to face West Ham in the semi-finals.
