According to the Liverpool-based media outlet Liverpool Echo, the Reds are lining up a replacement of Spanish full-back Alberto Moreno in the upcoming summer transfer window with the PSV left-back Jetro Willems as the proposed target for the club.
When Moreno joined Liverpool from Spanish side Sevilla in the summer of 2014 for 12-Million Pounds, his move to Anfield was celebrated by the Liverpool faithful. At just 22 years of age back then, Moreno was seen by many as a long-term solution to the defensive woes of Liverpool.
However, just 2-years forward and doubts over whether he could keep his place in the Liverpool side have already surfaced. With youngsters like Brad Smith impressing Jurgen Klopp along with the fan favorite Jon Flanagan, the starting position of the Spaniard could be in jeopardy as early as next Season.
If rumors are to be believed, the Reds are looking towards the Dutch League in order to find a permanent replacement of Moreno. Jetro Willems has been linked with Liverpool many times this Season and it seems as if the Reds have now decided to pay his buyout clause to PSV.
Although he is just 21, Willems has earned praise from home and abroad due to his performances with PSV. He has already been capped 16-times by the Holland National side.
Thus, while he might not be as famous as his counterpart at Liverpool, Willems certainly has what it takes to succeed at a big club like Liverpool.
