Everton star striker Romelu Lukaku is considering signing a deal that would bring him to Old Trafford over the summer, opening up the possibility that he would reunite with former coach Jose Mourinho, according to a recent report from the Manchester Evening News.
The 22 year-old sits third in the Premier League goal scorer’s list with 18, behind Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy, on 21 and 19 respectively. As former head coach of Chelsea, Mourinho openly criticized the young Lukaku a number of times to the media, and he eventually had the player sold to Everton for £28m.
The source adds that rumours are circulating around the Belgian footballer after his father spoke to media last week, “Lukaku’s father, Roger, told Het Laatste Nieuws (h/t Morshead) that ‘there is interest from Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United’ in his son and that ‘I think he must choose Manchester United or Bayern Munich.'”
Lukaku has 25 goals across all competitions this season for Everton, but the club still languish in 12th place. A move to United and the prospect of working under Mourinho once more would not be a problem for Lukaku, and the star added that he was only 20 while at Chelsea and has matured and developed his game dramatically since then.
