Mourinho is set to offer £31m for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez

Manchester United are reportedly going to offer £31m for the 21-year-old Spanish footballer, who has also been a target for Wenger and the Gunners, according to The Sun and Spanish sports weekly Don Balon.

According to the sources “United will pay the hefty fee to snap up their man as they look to rebuild their squad in the summer” . Niguez is allegedly unwilling to commit to a future at Spanish side Atletico, and while a previous United bid for the young midfielder failed, this one looks far more likely to be successful.

Niguez originally joined Atletico’s B side, then moved his way up to first team in 2012. His performances for the club earned him a spot on Spain’s U21 International squad.  Between his league and national team commitments, Saul scored 8 goals in a total of 36 appearances, and is noted by many to have played a central role in the plans of coach Diego Simeone so far this season.

Atletico Madrid is the prime target at the moment for Manchester United and future coach Mourinho as a source of not only talent like Saul, but also of senior staff, particularly Andrea Berta, the club’s technical director.
