Liverpool have emerged as the shock favourites to secure the services of Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, according to Ladbrokes (as cited by HITC)
It is clear to see that central defence is a huge problem for Liverpool and the Reds have not been helped by the fact that the likes of Mamadou Sakho, Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel have struggled with injuries this season.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has moved on to bring in a new defender by securing the services of Steven Caulker on loan till the end of the season but it is believed that the 48-year old is looking to bring in a more long term option before the end of the January transfer window.
Cahill heading to Liverpool?
Now in surprise reports from Ladbrokes, it has been claimed that Liverpool are favourites to secure the services of Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.
Cahill has been a mainstay in the Chelsea backline since his arrival from Bolton Wanderers back in 2012 but the defender has lost his place in the starting lineup to Kurt Zouma during the current campaign.

In order to maintain his spot in the England national team starting lineup for the upcoming 2016 European Championships, Cahill is desperate for regular minutes on the pitch and it is believed that the 30-year old would be open to a move away from Stamford Bridge in January.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be open to parting with Cahill though but according to Ladbrokes, Liverpool have emerged as the most likely destination for the central defender.
Liverpool certainly could do with a defender of Cahill’s caliber and it remains to be seen whether the transfer will come into fruition.
