Tottenham set to beat Arsenal to the signings of Argentine and Belgian internationals

Tottenham Hotspur are set to beat Arsenal to the signature of Paris St. Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi who’s contract is up in the summer, per reports from the Metro.

The Argentine is unhappy with his amount of playing time with the arrival of former Manchester United stud Angel Di Maria.

The gunners were interested in signing Lavezzi this past summer but talks broke down after the two clubs couldn’t agree on a fee.

He’s set to leave on a free transfer this summer if he doesn’t leave in January. Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus put in bids that were accepted by PSG but Lavezzi rejected both their contract offers after they didn’t meet his wage demands, per talksport.

With so many clubs wanting the prized winger, Tottenham will have to act fast to get his signature. If they want to get Lavezzi in January, Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy will have to spend some cash.

If Lavezzi did arrive this season, one has to believe it’s only with first team football guaranteed by Spurs’ manager Mauricio Pochettino. He can play on both wings, preferably the left side. His arrival would add tremendous depth to Spurs’ squad as they look to make a serious push for the Premier League Title in the second half. The Argentine would be a huge signing for Spurs.

Spurs look to bring in Belgian striker

In other news, Spurs are looking at bringing another Ligue 1 player to White Hart Lane. Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi has been impressive this season, netting 14 goals in 25 games.

The Belgian international is also being monitored by Newcastle United, but with the possibility of Champions League football alive for Spurs, they are for sure to have the advantage in grabbing his signature.

However Marseille manager Michel is hoping to keep his star hitman. “You want to kill me!” he said to the Mirror. “I don’t think about Michy leaving.

It could be tough for Tottenham to lure a star striker away to White Hart Lane only to be Harry Kane’s sidekick. Batshuayi however would be a brilliant signing by Pochettino as Tottenham desperately need another striker. Whether that’s Barcelona man Sandro, West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, or Batshuayi.

Andros Townsend set to depart White Hart Lane this January

Townsend is set to depart from White Hart Lane in January after it’s been realized that he isn’t part of Pochettino’s plans moving forward.

Several English clubs monitoring the Englishman. According to the Mail, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Southampton, Watford, and Sunderland are all monitoring his status. Townsend is desperate to show England Manager Roy Hodgson that he should be in the squad come Euro 2016. He’s been playing with Tottenham’s U-21 team recently.

Townsend has been out of favor with Spurs’ manager ever since he got into a row with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner. He was left out of the squad again Spurs last match against Everton which ended in a 1-1 draw. It would be a surprise if he’s still at White Hart Lane at the end of the transfer period.

What do you guys think? Should Tottenham try to bring in Lavezzi early or risk him being sold to another club with the reward being they would get him for free this summer if he signs with them. Which striker do you want to see at White Hart Lane in January? Where will Townsend be when the transfer period ends?
