A report in The Metro has suggested that Arsenal are very interested in signing Coventry City prospect James Maddison in an attempt to provide cover for their dwindling midfield options.
19-year-old Maddison has really caught the eye with his mature performances this season. The Coventry man broke into the first team last season and went on to make 18 appearances in all competitions. This term, he has gone on to make 5 more appearances for the Sky Blues.
The teenager is rated very highly in England and it’s no surprise that he is being chased by some of the biggest club’s in the country. Coventry manager Tony Mowbray was so excited about Maddison that he decided to hand the player the much-coveted Number 10 shirt before the season began.
Any move for the midfielder however is not going to come cheap as sources close to Coventry have suggested that an offer of almost 10m pounds would be needed to get the Sky Blues to sell. While Arsenal could do with some midfield reinforcements, they may just choose to send the player back to the League One side on loan for the remainder of the present season.
