Star says it would be stupid to leave his club to join Manchester United

Riyad Mahrez has dealt a huge blow in Manchester United’s hopes after admitting that it would be stupid for him to be leaving Leicester City at the moment

Mahrez has caused quite a stir this season with his stunning performances and his contribution has been one of the main reasons why Leicester City are unlikely table toppers in the Premier League heading into Christmas.

Bagging a brilliant 13 goals and 6 assists so far this season, Mahrez has been one of the most prolific attacking players around in Europe and it has been no surprise whatsoever to see a host of top clubs eyeing a swoop for the 24-year old.

Mahrez does not want Manchester United move

It was recently revealed that fallen giants Manchester United were keen on a January swoop for Mahrez and that the Red Devils were ready to splash as much as £30million to secure the services of the Algerian international.

To deal a huge blow in United’s hopes though, Mahrez has gone on to state that it would be ‘stupid’ for him to leave Leicester City during the January transfer window even if such a big side are expressing their interest.

Mahrez said, “I do not think that I am going to leave because I feel very good here. Of course it is sure that there are noises.

“It is good to have clubs that are interested in you but I feel very good at Leicester and it would be stupid to leave in January, especially because we are in first position!”
