Liverpool could allow fan favourite to leave for just £12million

AS Roma have reignited their interest in signing Mamadou Sakho and are plotting a move in January, according to reports from the Metro

Mamadou Sakho has undoubtedly managed to become a popular figure at Liverpool since his arrival to Anfield from Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 in a £18million deal.

Sakho set for Liverpool exit?

However, a host of injury problems have meant that Sakho has been limited to only 40 odd Premier League appearances during the last two-and-a-half seasons and as a result, it has been repeatedly claimed that Liverpool are open to parting with the injury prone defender for the right price.

Now according to reports from the Metro, Sakho could be set for a move to Italy as giants Roma have reignited their interest in the French international.

Roma were interested in signing Sakho during the summer but were evidently unsuccessful in their pursuit of the 25-year old. Despite the failed summer attempt, Roma have not given up on their hopes of signing Sakho and are now plotting a loan move during the January transfer window.

Sakho is said to be open to the idea of moving to Italy following his struggles at Anfield and Roma are looking to tempt Liverpool into parting with the defender by preparing to offer around £12.6million to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
