Manchester United have placed a deal ‘in-principle’ to replace current manager Louis van Gaal with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, according to reports from the Tutto Mercato Web (cited by Squawka)

Van Gaal has done a decent job at Manchester United since taking over the club at the start of last season but majority of the fans are not satisfied with the defensive style the Dutchman has implemented at Old Trafford.

Given the opinion of the fans as well as van Gaal’s advancing years, the former Barcelona boss has not been seen as a long term option by the United hierarchy and reports have emerged that the Red Devils could well dispense with the services of their current manager at the end of the season.

Recently, the Daily Star had claimed that United were planning to replace van Gaal with under fire Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho is expected to be replaced by Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and consequently, United are already said to have identified the Portuguese tactician as their next managerial target.

Now in a further development to the story, it can be revealed that United already have a deal ‘in-principle’ to secure the services of the current Chelsea boss.

According to reports from the Tutto Mercato Web, United have already contacted Mourinho’s representative and the 52-year old is now expected to arrive at Old Trafford next season.
