Manchester United are believed to have taken the lead ahead of their rivals Arsenal in the race for Daniele Rugani. The 21-year-old Juventus man is currently out of favour at his new club and Tuttosport have reported that the Red Devils could be lining up a January move for the player, who is also on Arsenal’s hit list.

The centre-half was always considered a prospect as Juventus signed him from Empoli in 2013 only to loan him straight out again. Rugani spent two years on loan at Empoli during which he massively impressed after becoming an ever-present for them for two seasons in a row.

His parent club Juventus decided to bring him back to their squad this season but things have not gone according to plan for the youngster as he has made only one appearance all season. Rugani needs more game time to keep growing as a footballer and it is expected that quite a few clubs will be making moves for him once the winter transfer window opens.

Arsenal are rumoured to be one of those clubs but it seems that Manchester United have taken an early lead in the race for Rugani. Either team would benefit from having a rising star the likes of him and one can only hope that the player does not waste himself at Juventus.
