Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their hunt for Brazilian midfielder Jorginho, reports Talksport. The midfielder is currently at Napoli and has done well for himself after already making 18 appearances in all competitions.
English giants Arsenal are reported to be keeping tabs on the combative midfielder as they do have plans to bring in some much-needed cover for their own destroyer, Francis Coquelin. Jorginho would have been ideal foil for Coquelin but any hopes that the Gunners had of signing the 23-year-old former Hellas Verona star have more or less gone down the drain.
That is because the player’s agent, Joao Santos, has admitted that he has in fact scheduled talks with his client’s current employers with a new deal being the only item on their agenda.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Santos said, “Next week I will talk with Guintoli (Napoli’s Sporting Director). The idea would be to renew through to 2020. We will talk and we will see what happens.”
Napoli should be keen to tie down their man for a longer amount of time and it remains to be seen how successful these talks are.
