English giants Liverpool are rumoured to be plotting a move for a player from the ranks of their greatest rivals, Manchester United. The player in question is Victor Valdes and the Daily Star has hinted that the Merseysiders could end up making a move for him very soon.
New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is believed to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to compete with or even replace their current number one, Simon Mignolet. The Belgian shot-stopper has not always been very dependable between the sticks even though a recent upturn in his form has seen him earn rave reviews.
Former Barcelona ‘keeper Valdes would be a very able replacement to Mignolet and a move for him should not be too difficult as United boss Louis Van Gaal has banished their player from the first team and also denied him a squad number.
Van Gaal would be keen to move the player along and the player himself would also be edging for a move after seeing his United career go up in smoke. But whether or not United would sell to a direct rival remains to be seen and their history may end up being a major reason to scupper the move.
