Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has insisted that his side have improved no matter what the critics say. The Dutch coach has been subject to a lot of criticism after seeing his side fail to reach the standards that they had set for themselves during the days of Sir Alex. But van Gaal feels that his team have improved and he was also willing to show evidence that would back up this claim.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s Barclays Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, LvG said, ” If we had scored, nothing would have happened. Now we are out of the cup, you know the next day is going to be like that. But when you analyse it, last season we were already out to MK Dons, now we were nearly in the quarter-finals.”

Yes! You read that right. Van Gaal actually did compare this season’s Capital One Cup campaign with the last and of course, being knocked out by a second-division side in the Fourth Round of the cup is better than being knocked out by a second-division side in the Third Round of the cup.

The Dutchman went even further to prove how losing to Middlesborough on penalties at Old Trafford in the League Cup was not actually a disaster. He said,” Middlesbrough beat Manchester City 2-0 at home last season, we were 0-0 and we could have won this game. We could have lost it also, because Middlesbrough also had a few chances. But you know as a coach of Manchester United if you lose you are going to have a hard time.”

These hilarious comments from the United boss have gone on to leave fans of other clubs splitting their sides with laughter while his own fans have been left absolutely dumbfounded.
