Paris Saint-Germain continues winning ways

Paris Saint-Germain keep their confidence high ahead of the Champions League match against Real Madrid by defeating Bastia 2-0 with a Zlatan Ibrahimovic brace.

It was a difficult on the first half for the Parisians as they did not manage to have a shot on target, even having an earlier goal rightly disallowed for offside from Ibrahimovic.

PSG continue to be league leaders and provisionally move eight points clear of Angers and Caen.

The Red and Blue were without five regular starters through injury and suspension, and Italian man Thiago Motta spent the first hour on the bench. Laurent Blanc was able to rest the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti and Angel Di Maria and still pick up the three points dispite the PSG midfield not having the best of games.

Playing with Adrien Rabiot, Benjamin Stambouli and Javier Pastore proved to lack the drive that Matuidi and Verratti have going up front, and if it wasn’t for a couple of lucky chances and individual quality the Paris side would not have come out with a win.

Not to mention Salvatore Sirigu started the game and got the opportunity to show why he had been PSG’s main goalkeeper for the past couple seasons.

The goals came later on in the second half when Javier Pastore lobbed a pass to Edinson Cavani and the Uruguayan held it up for Ibra to tap it in the 72nd minute.

Then on the 83rd minute Serge Aurier made a run on the right side of the field and assisted Zlatan to score his brace and ultimately ended the game.
