Manchester United Star blasts own team after Arsenal thrashing

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has openly admitted that their defeat to Arsenal is downright unacceptable.

United conceded two goals in the opening seven minutes of Sunday’s game at the Emirates and were three down by the time they reached the 20-minute mark. Spain midfielder, Mata has admitted that he was disappointed to see that they were not good enough for Arsenal at the Emirates.

Mata wrote in his weekly blog, “As you could see, everything went wrong in the first half. Arsenal started with more intensity, they scored very quickly and with no time for our reaction they scored the second goal.”

“Not even 10 minutes have passed and things were already looking very bad. A start like this from us is unacceptable; if we want to fight for big things we must learn the lesson as soon as possible”.

Contributions from Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil sealed the game for the home side even before their visitors could settle  in. Sanchez scored the opening goal for the Gunners and further stunned United with a third goal before the 20-minute mark, taking the game beyond the reach of the Red Devils. Defeat for United in this game brought an end to Louis van Gaal’s men’s four-game winning streak.

Mata further said, “The only thing I can say is that we shouldn’t play a game like this again. When we were starting to react and move the ball, Alexis scored the third one. It’s not easy to beat Arsenal at their stadium, but when you lose 3-0 after the first 20 minutes then it’s almost impossible. We were penalised by our horrible start.”

The former Chelsea man will join up with the Spain squad now as La Furia Roja bring their Euro qualification campaign to an end with ties against Luxembourg and Ukraine.
