Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney has urged his team to be clinical if they are to beat Arsenal.
Rooney wants the Red Devils to be strong in defense while taking all of their chances at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal. This match is set to be an explosive encounter between two of English football’s heavyweights who are also title hopefuls.
The captain suggests that it might be a difficult game for manager van Gaal’s side but a victory today would be a real boost for the team.
“It’s always a tough game at The Emirates and I’m sure the Arsenal players know it’s a big game for them as well,” said Rooney in an interview with The Express
“For us it’s a chance to extend the gap over Arsenal and make sure we are on top of the league going into the international break”
“Arsenal have some quality players and we need to stop their danger players and take our chances,” added Rooney.
Following Manchester City’s at 6-1 annihilation of Newcastle yesterday, Van Gaal and his boys slipped to second place in the league standings. However, with a win over the Gunners today, they can regain their top spot at the league table.
Arsenal, who have lost their first two Champions League matches of the season, are under a lot of pressure to win this game. The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has a poor track record against title contenders so the home crowd should not expect three points today.
