Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, who arrived at Old Trafford on transfer deadline day from Monaco for a record amount of 36m Pounds, has gone on to assure the club’s fans that he will do everything he can to justify his price tag and therefore make them happy. The former Lyon academy ace is the football world’s most expensive teenager with a fee that could rise to an eye- watering 58m Pounds.
The Daily Star has reported that the player has sent a message to the United fans stating that he is aware of the immense pressure on his shoulders due to the large price tag on his head. He has also vowed to do everything in his power to prove that United manager Louis van Gaal was right to spend so much on him.
He said, “I know the fans expect a lot from me because of my price tag, but I’ll do everything so they can be proud of me.”
Being compared to Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry, Anthony Martial has made a pretty good start for the boys at the Theatre of Dreams, scoring four goals in five appearances in the Premiere League. Even though impressed by his play, LVG is fearful of praising him due to his past experiences with Angel Di Maria whose form dipped alarmingly after his first few months with Manchester United.
“We have to wait and see because it is still the start. In the beginning, for example, Di Maria has a lot of assists and a lot of goals so we have to wait and see if he is consistent”, said Louis van Gaal.
