The Mirror is reporting that Manchester United has a three player shortlist of left-backs who could serve as replacements for the injured Luke Shaw. Morgan Fox (Charlton), Aaron Cresswell (West Ham), and Charlie Taylor (Leeds United) are the three players that make up this shortlist.

Morgan Fox, the 22-year old Welsh full-back, acquired the attention of Manchester United after being called up to the Wales senior squad for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Cyprus and Israel held in September.

Fox has two years left on his Charlton contract; the Championship side are trying to tie Fox down for a longer-term, given the heightened interest the young left-back has attracted after his ascent to the Welsh national squad.

25-year old Aaron Cresswell, and 22-year old Charlie Taylor are also being tracked as Shaw replacements. Cresswell is a bit older at 25, and will likely only be used as a last resort replacement, given that the current back-ups at Manchester United would be adequate. Taylor has no International experience, and is likely #2 on this three-player shortlist.

Luke Shaw will be out for at least 6 months, realistically, he won’t be returning to the lineup until next season. However, given that he is just 20-years old, and assuming that once he returns he regains the playing level we have seen from him, it seems unlikely Man Utd would want to invest on another young left-back.

The most probable scenario is that LvG will see how the current replacements function up to December, if the coach deems it necessary to find a replacement, he will go for an older left-back with experience in the EPL during the January transfer window.
