Deal Close – Legend confirms Manchester United’s move for £20million striker

Croatian legend Milan Rapaic reveals that Manchester United are very close to securing the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic

Following the return of Radamel Falcao to Monaco, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is in the market to sign a new striker.

As a result, a host of names such as Edinson Cavani, Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema have naturally been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few weeks.

Recently though Mario Mandzukic had emerged as a surprise target for the Red Devils and with the striker not enjoying the best of relationships with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, a transfer taking place this summer was seen as a real possibility.

Now to further fuel claims that Mandzukic could well be on his way to Old Trafford, Croatian legend Milan Rapaic has moved on to state that the 29-year old striker is very close to making a move to United.

Speaking to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rapaic stated, “It appears to me that he’s very close to Manchester United.”

Mandzukic has been one of the most prolific strikers around in Europe over the past few years and he managed 20 goals for Atletico in all competitions last season.

A fee of around £18million has been touted for Mandzukic and the striker certainly has all the credentials to become a success in the physical nature of the Premier League with United.
