The Daily Star has revealed that Liverpool are on the verge of signing Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev
After making a hash of the £100million transfer kitty awarded to him last season, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers needs to prove his worth buy purchasing quality players during the upcoming transfer window.
As a result, the Northern Irishman has adopted a proactive approach to the market this summer and has already completed the signings of James Milner and Danny Ings.
Rodgers is further keen on continuing his relentless pursuit of strengthening the Liverpool squad and now according to the reports from the Daily Star, the Reds’ boss is close to securing the services of Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev.
Cheryshev set for Liverpool move
With Raheem Sterling all but set to depart Liverpool this summer, Rodgers has been in the market to sign a new winger and recent reports have suggested that Cheryshev ranks high on the priority list for the 42-year old.
Cheryshev enjoyed a fantastic campaign last season while on loan at Villarreal but the winger is unlikely to earn a regular spot in the Real Madrid first team due to the fierce competition for places.
As a result, Cheryshev is said to be keen on a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu and Liverpool have been following the 24-year old for quite a while now.
Despite being surplus to requirements, Cheryshev is valued very highly by Madrid at £22million and Liverpool are ready to match the valuation of the Russian international.
