The international friendly between Colombia vs Costa Rica will take place this Saturday, June 6, 2015 (2:15 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona in Buenos Aires. ‘Cafeteros’ and ‘ticos’ square-off in what should be a great game prior to the start of the Copa America and Gold Cup.
The team coached by Jose Pekerman begins their road toward the Copa America 2015 which be held in Chile from June 11 to July 15. This friendly will allow the Colombian team to define several of their lineup doubts specially on the offensive side. They form part of Group C which also includes Brazil, Venezuela, and Peru and their first game will take place on June 14th. The ‘cafeteros’ are one of the three favorites to win that tournament, and the game against Costa Rica will serve to perfect their team form in what will most likely be a very difficult competition.
Meanwhile, the ‘ticos’ are not one of the invitees for the South American tournament, however, they will use this friendly to prepare for the Gold Cup which begins on July 7 and ends on July 26. The team was the surprise in last year’s World Cup where they reached the quarterfinals under coach Jorge Luis Pinto. This summer, new coach Paulo Wanchope will see to match last year’s playing form, as they will attempt to win the Gold Cup above favorites Mexico and USA.
Colombia vs Costa Rica Prediction
The Colombia vs Costa Rica international friendly match will be a close contest between two very good teams. The ‘cafeteros’ enter the game as the clear favorites as their tournament is only days from starting, meaning they have the bigger pressure to be on their highest form. The game will be on a neutral field, but Colombia will come out the winner this Saturday. The final score in this friendly will end in a 3-1 win for the South Americans.
