French Midfielder Paul Pogba has been a hot name of discussion in these past few months leading up to the transfer window, which is deservingly so. He is a young, extremely talented midfielder who has a very bright future. Juventus are fighting off teams and trying to hold on to their wonder-kid, but could lose another key player in doing so. Fellow midfielder Arturo Vidal would likely make way, and Express is reporting that a deal with Arsenal is already in place.
The Chilean Midfielder has been a focal point to a powerful Juventus team over the last few seasons. Vidal has the versatility and quality to start at nearly every position, but thrives in a defensive midfield role. He has the tenacity and aggression needed to star in the holding role, but also is top quality moving the ball forward. The 28 year old is also no familiar to scoring goals which is fairly uncommon for a deeper lying player, further speaking to his all around quality.
He is the unheralded star in a trio of Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba, playing as the heart of a team that has won fourScudetto in a row. While Francis Coquelin has performed admirably in his stead at holding midfielder for Arsenal, he doesn’t have enough quality moving the attack forward. When receiving the ball, he looks to instantly give it up rather than looking for a more creative outlet. In comparison, Vidal is one of the worlds best at this, and would provide a needed upgrade at the position.
To win a Premier League title next season, Arsene Wenger will need to add a few more key pieces to his Arsenal squad. He is quoted in saying that he will only add ‘world-class’ players, and Arturo Vidal is just that. With Vidal, Arsenal is one step closer to a return to glory.
