Premier League giants Manchester United planning a stunning £100 million splash to secure the services of star trio Raheem Sterling, Mats Hummels and Memphis Depay, according to reports from the Metro.
Following their fine 3-1 victory over Aston Villa over the weekend, it looks all but certain that Manchester United will be finishing in the top four this season and the achievement will certainly be classed as a worthy one – given their troubles during the first half of the campaign.
That said though, it is clear to see that United need to strengthen their side in order to be able to compete in the Champions League as well as for the Premier League title next season and manager Louis van Gaal is expected to be handed another huge transfer war chest to recruit new players during the upcoming summer.
As a result, it has been no surprise to see the Red Devils being linked with a host of players over the past few weeks and now according to reports from the Metro, they are planning an ambitious triple swoop to sign the trio of Raheem Sterling, Mats Hummels and Memphis Depay.
Sterling has put his future at Liverpool in doubt during recent times after refusing to sign an extension at the club and it is widely believed that the young winger will be leaving Anfield over the summer.
The 20-year old has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich but it has been claimed that United are hopeful of convincing Liverpool to part with their prized asset by tabling a whopping £50million bid.
While it remains to be seen if Liverpool would be willing to sell such an important player to their fierce rivals, the moves for Mats Hummels and Memphis Depay can be seen as more realistic.
Both Hummels and Depay look set to leave their respective clubs Bourssia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven during the upcoming summer and it is believed that United will be able to land the duo for a combined fee of around £55million.
