Manchester United have been handed a huge boost after top target Marquinhos stated that he is open to making a move to the Premier League in the summer
United were widely linked with a host of central defenders during the January transfer window but much to the surprise of many, the Red Devils did not recruit the services of even a single name they had been linked with.
While many of the reports were probably just fabrication from the media, it was widely believed that United did hold a genuine interest in recruiting the services of Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos and had placed two bids for the young Brazilian, which the French side rejected.
Despite failing in their attempt to land Marquinhos in January, Manchester United still hold a keen interest in the young man and it is widely expected that the Red Devils will renew their interest in the 20-year old during the summer.
Now as a huge boost in United’s hopes of signing Marquinhos, the player himself has moved on to confirm that an English club had in fact made an approach for him during the January transfer window and added that he is open to a switch to the Premier League in the near future.
As reported by the Metro, Marquinhos said, “The Premier League is viewed all around the world. There is even some children in Brazil who grow up supporting English teams. There have been some discussions with English clubs, but right now I’m with PSG.”
While Marquinhos’ desire to play in England will certainly serve as a boost for Manchester United, they will most probably have to part with a sizeable £40million in order to land the services of the young Brazilian star.
