Despite spending ridiculous amounts of money during the summer transfer window, Manchester United have endured a difficult season so far under Louis van Gaal and if the Red Devils do not improve on their recent performances, even a top four finish will be a difficult ask for the fallen giants of English football.
In what has been such a poor season, there have understandably been very little positives for United to lack back upon. Nonetheless, the one saving grace for the Red Devils has been the wonderful form of star custodian David De Gea.
De Gea has been the one shining light for United this season
De Gea has easily been United’s best player so far this season and if it were not for the Spaniard, the Red Devils would probably have been languishing in mid table mediocrity at the moment.
With De Gea showing such a wonderful run of form though, the young goalkeeper has attracted the interest of Spanish giants Real Madrid and the United faithful were left fearing that their star man could well leave the club in search of greener pastures – especially with his contract at Old Trafford expiring within the next 18 months.
De Gea has reportedly agreed to sign a new deal with United
Much to the delight as well as relief of United fans though, it has now been reported that the Premier League giants have been able to tie down De Gea to a long term deal.
Citing Italian news outlet – Mediaset, The Metro, have claimed that De Gea has agreed on a new five year contract till 2020 with United and the deal will earn him a whopping £140,000-per-week.

The news of De Gea reportedly signing a new deal at Old Trafford will come as music to the ears of everyone who is associated with United and it goes without saying that the 24-year old will now play a huge role in helping facilitate the return of the glory days back to the Red half of Manchester.
