The current campaign had begun with so much optimism for Arsenal but ultimately, it looks set to end in disappointment once again.
Although we are only at the halfway point of the season, the Gunners can effectively be ruled out of the title race and if their fortunes do not undergo a dramatic upturn in the coming weeks – Arsene Wenger’s side could find it difficult to even finish in the top four.
Due to Arsenal’s poor form, an army of disgruntled Gunners’ fans have unsurprisingly already expressed their frustration at Wenger and have demanded the Frenchman to step down.
Wenger coming under mounting pressure from the Arsenal fans
Amid all the criticism though, Wenger is remaining defiant as always and he is hopeful of using the January transfer window to reinvigorate the Arsenal squad at his disposal, and in turn get the fans back on to his side.
Therefore, Wenger has been tipped to splash a lot of cash during the January transfer window and a host of names have incessantly been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the past few weeks.
Now in a surprise link, Real Madrid sensation Isco has been touted to make a multimillion move to Arsenal before the January transfer window slams shut.
Arsenal to launch a record breaking pursuit of Isco
According to reports, Arsenal are planning to place a whopping £64million bid in an attempt to convince Madrid into parting with their prized asset and if such a deal does indeed go through, the Gunners would easily be eclipsing their record £42.5million transfer fee – which they had shelled out to acquire Mesut Ozil at the start of last season.
While such rumors have to be taken with a pinch of salt, Wenger has shown in recent times that he is not afraid to spending huge money anymore, as evidenced by his signings of Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, and it would not be a complete surprise if the Frenchman decides to go ahead with the transfer of Isco as well.
