Following the debacle under David Moyes, Manchester United knew they that had to appoint a manager who boasted great pedigree at the highest level and the Red Devils went out and did just that by handing the reins to Louis van Gaal.
Van Gaal boasted a wonderful CV, having led the likes of Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and AZ Alkmaar to success and the Dutchman looked tailor-made to bring back to glory days to Manchester United.
However, it was not just Van Gaal’s impressive trophy haul that persuaded United to appoint him and the fact that he had a fine track record of nurturing young talent into world class players also made a big influence in the Red Devils’ hierarchy’s decision making .
Van Gaal has a wonderful track record of developing young players
From Patrick Kluivert to Thomas Muller, van Gaal is credited with having shaped the careers of a host of top players from past and present, and given United’s philosophy of promoting young players into the first team – the Dutchman fit the fill perfectly.
While Manchester United may not be producing the same amount of talented young players in the ilk of the famed Class of 92’, their youth system remains strong and the Red Devils have also adopted a new policy of snapping up promising players from abroad at an early age.
Since the arrival of van Gaal, United have already purchased young stars such as Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Vanja Milinkovic, and now to continue the trend it is being reported that the Red Devils are lining up another promising star in the form of Juan Familia-Castillo.

Familia-Castillo is a 14-year old winger currently plying his trade at Dutch side Ajax and has been earning raves reviews for his performances.
The young man played for Holland Under 15s against Belgium Under 15s in two internationals this week and United scouts were said to be in attendance monitoring his progress
It is believed that United will make a move for Familia-Castillo in January and given Van Gaal’s close ties with Ajax, the deal is expected to go through.
While young Familia-Castillo may not be the answers to United’s problems on the pitch at the moment, it is certainly encouraging for the fans to see Van Gaal building for the future.
