While much of the headlines during the transfer deadline day was dominated with the news of Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind joining Manchester United, the Red Devils were very active on the departure front as well after allowing the likes of Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez, Tom Lawrence, Michael Keane and Nick Powell to leave the club.
United allow Varela to leave the club
Interestingly, United also managed to offload Tom Cleverley to Aston Villa yesterday despite the transfer window already slamming shut and it can now be revealed that the Red Devils have allowed another player in the form of Guillermo Varela to leave for Real Madrid today.
The transfer was confirmed by United with release of the following statement in their official website, “Manchester United’s Under-21 right-back Guillermo Varela has joined Real Madrid on loan for the remainder of the season.”
A move to Real Madrid will aid in Varela’s development
The young defender will join up with Real’s reserve team ‘Castilla’ in the Spanish Segunda Division and will be playing under the legendary Zinedine Zidane.
Varela was the first signing of former United manager David Moyes and is considered a huge talent. The young man was a very important part of the United Under-21 squad last season and a chance to play regularly at a professional level with Real Madrid will surely aid in his development as a player.
