Alvaro Medrán
Another promising midfielder that will play under Zidane at Castilla. He was a regular at Real Madrid C and was called to Castilla near the end of the last season to avoid relegation. Álvaro couldn’t avoid that unfortunate situation, but he impressed when he played and will be one of the key components for this year’s squad.
Not known for being built or tall (five feet nine,) the youngster has a sensational long-range shot proven by the goals he has scored from the midfield. He thinks faster than his teammates and knows how to distribute to ball and set the pace of the match. Also a true leader, he isn’t afraid of pressure and has already trained and played this preseason with the first team. If his progression remains solid, he could fight his teammate Marcos Llorente in replacing Xabi Alonso very soon.
