Five Reasons Barcelona Must Sell Dani Alves NOW

Montoya is Ready

I am not one who advocates the transfer of Cuadrado. The Catalan club have a right-back for the starting XI. Martin Montoya came through the youth ranks of La Masia. During his time in the youth ranks, Montoya had an opportunity to play under Luis Enrique. He understands the style and tactics employed at the club. And the best part is that Montoya is actually a full-back. All these qualities are lost if Cuadrado comes in to start for Barcelona.

Of course Caudrado is far more talented than Montoya. Yet Montoya is a product of and for the Blaugranas. He has international experience at the youth level– playing from U-17 to U-23 Spain. Montoya is more conservative that Alves. This would allow Jordi Alba to continue attacking on the left flank with the defense secured (something unknown with Alves on the right). Montoya is a cheap, long-term investment for the club. It is best to spend any money from Alves on a back up.
