Five Reasons Barcelona Must Sell Dani Alves NOW

Time to Cash Out

Two reasons come to mind that the timing is now: age and contract. Barcelona’s legendary right-back is 31. He is in the phase of his career where retirement is not too far along. Football fanatics start wondering on how many good years he has to give, and not all clubs want a player past his prime (unless your last name is Zanetti).

Waiting another year would possibly lessen the interest of clubs that want him now. Top clubs want a long-term player instead of a short-term investment. This may be the last chance for the Catalan club to get decent cash for Alves

Let’s not forget the contract. Alves has a contract expring in 2015. Next season, he is free. Barcelona would not get anything for Alves other than a nice hug by the Brazilian. Anybody remember what happened with Valdes? Barcelona chose to keep him until the end of his contract; Valdes recieved a season-ending injury. Barcelona got nothing, and Valdes does not have a team. Selling Alves now benefits both club and player.
