Three Manchester United Youth Players Could Break Into The First Team

BEN PEARSON

Out of Manchester’s United youth system, Pearson’s style of play resembles much of United legend and fellow United youth graduate Paul Scholes. Pearson has shown perseverance and strength to be one of United’s best youth prospects, as he overcame a bad attack of glandular fever that hindered his progress during 2012.

SKILL LEVEL: 70%

Pearson’s control of the ball and passing ability around the midfield are two his best playmaking abilities. In addition, the 19-year old is fearless and not afraid of making daring challenges and tackles. Pearson is a terrific defender, but his commitment to defense is what prevents him from being a threat in the attacking third of the pitch. If Peason can raise his goal-scoring tally and still maintain his level of play, he can be called up into the ranks of the first team right away.

AVAILABILITY LEVEL: 60%

Although Pearson has shown some glimpses of becoming United’s next Paul Scholes, he still has some work to do to get to play regular first team football at Old Trafford. New signing and central midfielder Ander Herrera, longtime Reds Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher currently play in Pearson’s favored central midfield position. But if Pearson can maintain his current form, he may get a chance to play alongside some of the first-team players for experience purposes. In a year or two, Pearson may be called upon to play the position as the careers of Carrick and Fletcher both wind down.
