Manchester City’s Top 5 Youth Prospects

2. Karim Rekik

Rekik already possess relatively extensive first-team action, as the Dutch central defender plays his football on loan at PSV.  And he is the only one on the list with any real chance at breaking into the first team this season, as explained by MEN here. With no guarantee that Mangala or Benatia being signed, and an old and somewhat mistake prone Martin Demichellis, there is a low, albeit foreseeable chance that Rekik is across from Kompany when City kick off this season.

A skilled player who won’t simply punt it up if he receives it, Rekik successfully played outside back for a few games at PSV, which also speaks to his athletic ability. Only time will tell if Rekik gets his chance this season for his mother club, but if not this time around, it should end up working out in the future.
